- a half of Zygmunt III Vasa

June 21, 2023

The emission of a half was started in 1614 for the purposes of trade with Brandenburg, and then with Silesia. The drawing of the reverse with a characteristic apple resembled German pennies (Apfelgroschen). The denomination was on the coin in two places. The number "24" placed in an apple meant that one and a half was 1/24 part of Talar (in fact, its value was lower). In turn, the number "3" at the bottom of the skills meant that the coin was worth 3 half -grosze.

▪️ The crown and a half were beaten in the Bydgoszcz Mint and in another mint (varieties with crossed hooks). The literature mentions the Mint of Wschowska, Krakow, or the second production line of the Bydgoszcz Mint.

▪️ Lithuanian and a half was broadcast by the Vilnius mint, while the city - Ryska.

During the time of Zygmunt III, a half of the half was beaten on the basis of three mint ordinances: 1614 (sample VII ½ łuta; the content of pure silver - 0.739 g), 1619 (VI ½ łuta; 0.5 g), 1623 (VI Łutów; 0.45 g).
