During the reign of Stanisław August, the Mint of Warsaw beat Talars according to three different mint ordinances. The monetary system introduced in 1766 determined the production of 10 thalers from one fine of cologne pure silver (233.8123 g). They were PLN 8. They were beaten with silver attempts XIII 1/3 of Łuta. They weighed 28.057 GI contained 23.381 g of pure ore. Similarly, semi -gray also beaten from silver XIII 1/3 - loose, weighed 14,028 Gi contained 11.690 g of pure silver.
Szyibo turned out that the coins emitted by the Warsaw mint in accordance with this standard are too good. They were massively removed from the market and exported abroad, and then pierced into the Prussian thalers much worse in terms of silver. The Polish mint authorities reacted in 1787 by lowering the standard of thalers and semi -gray. Currently, they were to be beaten from the XIII-Lutwe, they were to weigh 27.570 g (semi-gray-13.785 g) and contain 22.401 pure silver (semi-gray-11,200 g).
The direction of the reform was appropriate. However, the depth of changes turned out to be insufficient. Polish thalers were still better than Prussian. The procedure for downloading them from the market and melting on a worse sample coin was still profitable.
The last reform was introduced during the Kościuszko Uprising. Thalers from 1794 and 1795 were already PLN 6. They were beaten from the 14th-peel silver, weighed 24,148 GI contained 16.602 g of pure silver. There were no half -grains in the monetary system from 1794.
The changes turned out to be appropriate. Downloading thalers from the market and piercing them into Prussian thalers has ceased to pay off. However, the reform turned out to be late. In 1795, the Polish state ceased to exist.
In terms of artistic values, Stanisław August's thalers belong to the most beautiful Polish coins. Their projects were prepared and implemented by the most outstanding engravings of the Stanisławów era. From 1766, Jan Filip Holzhaeusser (d. 1792) was the engraving of the stamps in the Warsaw Mint.
