On Friday, May 9, 2025, Krakow became a place of a unique event for lovers of history and collectors of numismatic. At the hotel at ul. Straszewski took place a free valuation of old coins and banknotes, which attracted crowds of interested parties. People from Krakow and nearby towns, such as Tarnów, Kielce or Zakopane, patiently waited in long queues, sometimes even over two hours, to consult experts.
Among the treasures brought were, among others Coins and medals of royal Poland with a total value of over 300,000 zlotys and a rare formal thaler of Władysław IV Vasa, priced at 70-100 thousand. zloty. The event organized by Wójcicki - the Polish auction house was successful: 26 commission agreements were concluded, and over 50 people took advantage of the possibility of directly selling their numismats.
This event showed that the passion for history and collecting still lives in the hearts of many Poles, and old coins and banknotes can hide not only sentimental value, but also significant material value.
